User-Manual for MPdataAU


Version 1.02 (18-March-2015)







MPdataAU is an application to keep tabs on your member of the House of Representatives in the Australian Parliament. With data supplied from OpenAustralia.

Enter your post code in the box, and click on the OK button or press the enter button, if you have entered a valid post code either or 2 things will happen.

  1. If there is only one Division for your post code you will be sent straight to the information about your member of the Australian House of Representatives.
  2. If there are more than 1 Divisions then be asked to click on a button with with your divisions. Once that is done you will be sent to the information about your member of the Australian House of Representatives.
The information displayed is their name, when they entered Parliament, their party, the Division they represent and if they hold an office the office they hold and the date they started it. Also the last four debates they were in with buttons which when clicked opens a web browswer with the full details.

The 3 buttons on the bottom are New Search which takes you back to the post code window, Division Info which takes you to the Wikipedia page on that division and Election Leaflets which takes you a an Australian site that allows you to upload and view election leaflets. Please note that when click on the Election Leaflets button the site will often come up with the following message Sorry, the page you were looking for doesn't seem to exist.
If it does just change the You're currently viewing leaflets for the to the lastest Federal Election. Click on the Change button, then click on Your browser's back button.

This application requires wget a working internet connection and a web browser.
